Farah & Farah Wins Million Dollar Verdict for Jacksonville Woman Injured by Large Pickup Truck
Jacksonville, Florida - February 18, 2011
The Jacksonville law firm of Farah & Farah secured a $1.3 million dollar verdict in Duval County Circuit Court, February 17, for a Jacksonville woman who was seriously injured when a Ring Power Corporation large pickup truck rear-ended her Ford Taurus on the Interstate 95 merger with I-10 two years ago.
On March 10, 2009, Tyra Andre, now 23, was driving south when the company’s Ford F-450 pickup truck driver hit her vehicle. While attorneys for Ring Power admitted liability in the collision, the company denied that the accident caused her extensive neck and back injuries.
At trial in Duval Circuit Court, Farah & Farah attorneys Brian M. Flaherty and Richard A. Staggard, established that Andre’s neurological neck and back pain resulted from the collision. Andre continues to receive pain management treatments today including chiropractic care, massage, radio frequency lesioning (RFL) and injections in the neck and back.
"She was a young woman who experienced a life-altering event from a company that didn’t fully appreciate what the long-term consequences would be," said attorney Flaherty.
Richard Staggard adds, "They were very dismissive of her."
Jurors deliberated just over two hours to deliver the $1,284,465.35 verdict, the bulk of which will go for Andre’s medical treatment both past and future.
"She’s going to be in a pain management program of some sort for the remainder of her life and she’s only 23 years old," added Flaherty.
Andre continues to go to community college in Jacksonville and hopes to become a medical technologist.
