Florida Hit and Run Accident Attorneys
Hit-and-Run Reward Program
Hit-and-run accidents occur all too often. There are many reasons why a driver may leave the scene of an accident, including being afraid, not having auto insurance, not holding a valid driver’s license, or being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but all of them are unacceptable and inexcusable.
Hit-and-run crashes are not limited to just cars; they can involve motorcyclists, truckers, pedestrians, bicyclists, and others, and can result in property damage, injury, disability, and even death. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), one in five pedestrians that are killed in traffic accidents are killed by a hit-and-run driver. Hit-and-run accidents cause thousands of injuries and fatalities every year. In an effort to make our roads safer, personal injury attorneys across the nation have teamed up with WeTip to offer the Hit-and-Run Reward Program.
The Goal
The Hit-and-Run Reward Program is financed by personal injury lawyers nationwide who want to make our roads safer. It provides an anonymous and effective hit-and-run reporting and rewarding system in order to provide a means and an incentive for the public to turn in hit-and-run drivers. The only way to decrease the number of hit-and-run accidents is by catching the offending drivers. If they know they will be reported, drivers may think twice before fleeing the scene of an accident.
How the Program Works
If you have information regarding a hit-and-run accident, you can report it to the WeTip Crime Hotline at (800) 6-HIT-N-RUN. WeTip is an independent third party that performs no taping, caller ID, or tracing. When you call, WeTip will ask you a series of questions, designed by law enforcement, to get the maximum amount of information regarding the hit-and-run accident. It will also ask you if you want a reward should your information contribute to an arrest and felony conviction. If you request a reward, you will be assigned a code name and number. Your true identity will remain anonymous. A reward of up to $1,000 is paid upon arrest and felony conviction through the appropriate code name and number.
