Brooksville Woman Dies in Fatal Car Crash on I-95 in Jacksonville

A Brooksville woman was traveling in her pickup truck on the inside lane from Interstate 295 to northbound Interstate 95 when she lost control of the vehicle on the flyover ramp Tuesday, December 28, around 10:40 p.m.

The Florida Times-Union reports the 33-year-old was not wearing her seat belt when the vehicle drifted on the road’s grassy shoulder before she over-corrected the pickup, struck a sign and guardrail, then flipped the vehicle. The woman was ejected from the pickup and died at the scene of the Florida car accident.

Her husband tells the paper they have three children ages 6 to 14 and she was visiting friends in Jacksonville. Our condolences and prayers are extended to her family and friends for this tragic car crash.

Seat Belt Use in Florida
In Florida, drivers topped the national average last year by having a statewide seat belt use of 85.2 percent. Nationwide, the average for seat belt use is about 84 percent.

When Florida enacted a primary seat belt law last year, it was estimated it would save 124 lives and prevent 1,733 serious injuries every year along with saving about $408 million in associated costs.

The Jacksonville auto accident injury attorneys at Farah & Farah would like to remind all motorists to buckle up when driving on Florida’s roads. As to what happened to cause this tragedy, the family would be well-advised to seek an accident reconstructionist to determine if a faulty vehicle or component, bad tires, poor signage, or another vehicle may have contributed to this crash.
