They are pretty impressive. Young people twisting and turning on skateboards, riding ramps and rails has become somewhat of an art form.
But for one skater, his art has turned life threatening. He was hit by a car near Fort Caroline Park in Jacksonville Sunday night.
Police responding to the scene found 20-year-old Francis M. Delre III unconscious in the street.

Vehicle access to Huguenot Memorial Park in Duval County, Florida has been restricted after a five-year-old boy was run over by a truck in March.
The boy was lounging in the sand and the driver said he didn’t see him. The boy was taken to the hospital and treated for a hip injury.
Huguenot Memorial Park was the only area where the public could drive on the beach in the Jacksonville area. The accident renewed the conflict between environmental purists and surfers and anglers who want beach access with their vehicles.

Investigators will try and determine why a St. Johns County deputy slammed his vehicle into a concrete wall.
It happened on Interstate 95 in Jacksonville. More often than not, police cruisers are involved in accidents when they’re hit by drunk or reckless drivers. The mystery is that there were no other cars involved except the police patrol car.

Every hour someone dies because they fail to wear their seat belts in the U.S.
And we so often write often write about people who make that decision with fatal results.
A Jacksonville woman, 50-year-old Pamela Joy Corl died after being thrown from a vehicle in which she was a passenger. The vehicle was being driven by Danner Brown, 50, who was towing a travel trailer.
They were traveling late Thursday on Interstate 95 north of State Road 9A when the vehicle began to fishtail. Brown reportedly overcorrected causing the vehicle to overturn.
